United 1908 2 v Gyergyoi 3

GYHK went into the last game of the season with more than an outside chance of somehow making the playoffs. Many will argue that after the dire start to the season and the apparent lack of interest in the early weeks of the season from manager MikeM, that to squeeze into the playoffs last minute would be unjust. As it was, the runaway league leaders decided to go easy on Tranmere after going 4-1 up and eventually surrendering them the point they needed to clinch a playoff place.
Good game on the whole, United 1908 are another good side who when on form can surprise a few teams. GYHK top scorer Zsolt put Gyergyoi ahead on 5 minutes only to see 1908 equalise a minute later and to be honest dominate the whole first half. The 2nd half was a different affair, and mid-half Gyergyoi's dominance was rewarded with a great goal again from Zsolt. A strange tactical decision from the GYHK bench quickly resulted in Illyte getting the equaliser for 1908 and it was game on again. More Gyergyoi pressure followed but didnt look like they were going to break through the tough 1908 defence. Eventually, a hopeful long ball from Sarpatki, found Orban and his bullet header claimed the points. Gyergyoi supporters went home happy but frustrated, wondering what could of been in a season that took weeks to get going (the side were 2nd bottom for much of the season). Onwards and upwards, and a full Ice Hockey season in Erste Liga to look forward to over winter

No real surprises here, many will say 2 mismatched sides but never the less was an entertaining game at least for the majority of the game. The home fans were willing Gyergyoi on in what will prove to be their last home game of the season and the home side will be dissapointed to only respond with 3 shots on goal and without at least registering a goal.
The defence was the weakest available as Manager MikeM looked to give all remaining squad members their designated minutes. Blain_Smith came off injured after the game whihc now means it'll be touch and go whether he finishes the season with enough minutes to avoid the cut.
Mads_Gunther coped well enough in defence but in fairness was no match for the Reapers super strikers Popovi & Gunter who were both in great form. Wainwright & Sarpatki had the odd moment in midfield and Rinne was on the most part is normal assured self in between the sticks.
On the whole, a really good fitness workout in preparation for the upcoming Ice-Hockey double-header this weekend, good luck to Reykjavik in the top league next year, they should do very well indeed.

Puskas Vs Gyergyoi FC

Gyergyoi make the relatively short journey across into Hungary knowing that it'll take a huge swing in their favour to escape relegation. 6 points to play for and 6 points behind Acorn and Sunset Knights with also an inferior goal difference it will take a lot for the Erste Liga Ice Hockey champions to avoid the drop.
That said, team are in surprisingly high spirits, with no real injury concerns. A couple of players will be looking for minutes as the season comes to and end and P_Zsolt will be looking to continue his scintillating form in from of goal. Defence has been the big issue this season with far too many goals conceeded. The scouting network has been instructed to scour eastern europe for tough-tackling defenders in the close season
