The Old Peacock vs Gyergyoi FC

The first competitive match in history for the The Old Peacock. All attention is on new boss James Bucknall who has had an impressive pre season beating Season 5 Division 1 Champions Golden Eagles,
Helsinki Hellhounds and Flint Tropics. With success on the field in pre season there has also been successful off the field, managing to sign some top class talents and have maintained some of the up and coming talents at the club. The club sits with a very healthy bank balance which will aid the club into improving the squad further throughout the season including potential re development to Elland Road.

"It's a proud moment to be able to lead this fantastic football club into their first ever game in history. Very pleased of how we have developed over the course of pre season, bringing in the players that will suit how we set up for the season and we have shown some real quality in pre season. However we must not get ahead of ourselves as the real business start now. We cannot take Gyergyoi FC for granted, despite their league position finish last season they have some real quality in that squad so we will have to be at our best to get the result. The expectation is champions and anything below that will be unacceptable. With the quality this squad possess regardless of bank balance it should already be more than enough to reach our target"

Helsinki Hellhounds 5 - 6 The Old Peacock

The Old Peacock pull off another shock result in pre season! Manager James Bucknall made 4 changes from there emphatic 4-2 win over Golden Eagles FC. Following James Bucknall's previous comments over C_Ronaldo future, it was a surprise to see the Portuguese midfielder start.  Denis_Irwin was left on the bench yet again however is expected to feature more frequent once the season commences. P_A_Peacock~, David_Beckham and Dom_Pavlowsi were all given the nod to start to freshen up the side and some very valuable minutes in the tank for a couple of those who are not expected to feature as much during the season.

Like the first friendly of the season saw The Old Peacock trail just 4 minutes into the match with a goal through P_Di_Canio who scored an outrageous bicycle kick! The home side continued there attacking threat making it 2-0 just 5 minutes later, only to be pegged back just 1 minute later with a goal through talisman Robert_Franke. It didn't take long for the away side to equalise with another goal through Robert Franke. Both sides had chances and in the 26th minute The Old Peacock made it 3-2 from young man Dom_Pavlowski. Helsinki Hellhounds pushed for the equaliser having many opportunities but  P_Schmeichel stood in there way pulling of some quality saves to see out the half.

Another slow start from The Old Peacock saw the home side grab the equaliser. Possibly a theme that boss James Bucknall needs to fix? It didn't take much longer for Helsinki Hellhounds grab another goal to take the lead. Pure frustration from goalkeeper P_Schmeichel, who has seemed to have next to no support from his teammates in the opening 10 minutes of the second half. It did not take long for The Old Peacock to respond, just 4 minutes later after the home side took the lead with a goal through summer signing Guam_Honest. Both sides continued there pursuit in attempt to take the lead, it was very much end to end football. With it being so end to end surely there is a goal to come? Yes! Another goal through Dom_Pavlowski to make it a brace and The Old Peacock take the lead! It seemed that, that could be that but the home side had other ideas. In the 82nd minute Helsinki Hellhounds equalised yet again to make it 5-5! Both sides had chances to put the game to bed and it seemed that both sides would come away with a draw. However, in the 88th minute starboy Juan_Guiilerm scores which came off the woodwork and into the back of the net to make it 6-5 to The Old Peacock.

"Another game going in as underdogs and we come away with the win. Steve is a good manager and has built an unbelievable squad with a mass of young exciting prospects who are already amongs the best within the game. This was another trial tactic which I have scouted through successful managers which Steve has used previously so a credit to him that new managers are keeping an eye on what tactics he uses to be successful. Really pleasing to see some of our young lads in action and making an impact. P_Schmeichel was absolutely world class for us today and shocked to see him not named as man of the match despite conceding 5 goals, he made 22 saves. He was the gamechanger for us today. That's pre season wrapped up and these 2 pre season games have put us in good stead ahead of the start of the season"

Golden Eagles FC 2 - 4 The Old Peacock


The Old Peacock put 4 past Division One champions Golden Eagles! Manager James Bucknall fielded his near on strongest 11. With up and coming superstar Adama_Inupah in the starting 11 saw midfielder C_Ronaldo dropped to the bench. Rumour has it that he has fallen out of favour with newly appointed manager and could be shown the door sooner rather than later. Another player to mention was  Denis_Irwin  who was also seen on the bench. James Bucknall stated that this was simply due to minute strains and will be in favour over Jaap_Stam once the season commences.

Onto the game, the home side got off to a blistering start making it 1-0 through Juan_Alvarez in the 7th minute. Not a lot to note over the next 20 minutes with both sides creating very few chances but in the 30th minute, The Old Peacock captain DAN_VEN_JOULE played the ball through to Guam_Honest who dances around the defence, took a shot which hit the upright and bounced over the line to equalise. To see out the half The Old Peacock had the best chance but could not get it right in the final third.

Going into the second half it was very much end to end with both sides creating ample amount of chances. Talks of Jaap_Stam being a very luck man not even receiving a booking despite the home fans demanding for the player to be sent off. Turning point of the game perhaps? It seemed so as the away side lead only 4 minutes after the incident with a goal through Andy_Brooming. The away side extended there lead with only 17 minutes left through play to make it 3-1! Despite the hard work put in from The Old Peacock, Golden Eagles scored only 2 minutes later to make it a nervy ending. Both sides came very close to scoring however in the 90th minute a freekick launched into the box was met by DAN_VEN_JOULE who nodded it home to make it 4-2 to seal the win!

"Albeit being a friendly I'm delighted to come away with the win against Season 5 Division One champions. I have a lot of respect for Dave, he's a great guy and someone I would class as a good friend of mine within the world of esms. Since joining the game I have scouted successful managers and found a couple of tactics and formations which have worked for them. Due to that my squad has been setup to suit those formations. One of those being used tonight and worked a treat. Pleasing to see my new signings in action and seeing a couple of them on the scoresheet. We're still a long way away from where I want my squad to be however we're still in the early stages of the rebuild but the  improvements made so far have been promising and we still have a good amount of cash to splash to improve our squad further "
